How Moving Abroad will Transform Your Life by Eliska Burdychova

Moving abroad is a transformational experience. I knew I wanted to move abroad, but I didn't know where to start and how to do it. I was actively looking on the internet, but it seemed no opportunity was available for me. But all of a sudden, the possibility came and I moved within 4 days. Let me tell my story of living in 5 countries in the past 4 years.

I always wanted to be an Entrepreneur. When I was in high school, I organised an event called “Leadership in three different ways”, what has appeared to be successful. 100 people came to that event. Thanks to that, I discovered my strengths, my true personality and what I want to do in my life.

I was 18 when I first moved abroad. It was a desire I had for more than 10 months before it became a reality. Somewhere inside of me, I dreamt about it, but I didn't know where to start and how to move abroad. I was actively looking on the internet, but it seemed no opportunity was available for me. But all of a sudden, the possibility came and I moved within 4 days.

One year later, in 2019, I was thinking about moving again. It seemed that there was no opportunity for me at all. But in the end, it appeared and I move to Ireland within 3 weeks. My personal experience was challenging, I had to change jobs, negotiate to be paid at least the minimum wage and find safe accommodation. (for some time I was living in a Van park just to have a place to sleep). I remember how many times I had to negotiate my salary in order to be stable. My boss was not playing fair and nobody from the entire staff had the courage to say something. Everyone was too scared to be fired. But I wasn't. I wanted to deserve something more.

The interesting fact is Ireland is a very touristic place and even safe to visit and live, just my experience was different. It was at that moment, that I realised, how living abroad is a huge transformation for me. What I have to go through and the discomfort I will experience would never have occurred to me. It was at that moment, that I realised, how living abroad is a huge transformation for me. What I have to go through and the discomfort I will experience would never have occurred to me. But this is what it is all about. We are learning from moments where we feel uncomfortable and small, and it makes us stronger.

Luckily, after this challenging and unstable experience, I had in Ireland, I quit after working for 3 months and moved to Denmark. It was a game changer again. I didn't need to work 12 hours a day to survive, I had this work-life balance, everyone was nice and respected my boundaries. I have started studying at a college in Denmark, which has given me another perspective on education. This taught me to think outside the box and respect the system, which was new to me again.

In 2021, I worked for 6 months in Sweden. The adventure of experiencing a different culture and habits has created a new version of me. As of now, I am living back in Denmark.

I thought I was moving to London for 2 months, and I come back and will live in the Czech Republic for the rest of my life. But things have changed and I have been abroad ever since.

So you see? Behind every “moving abroad” was a huge transformation that has given me an opportunity to grow. Whether it is bad or good, we can still learn from it.

All you need is a desire—the dream.

Today I run a company that is helping young people to follow their dreams and relocate abroad. The reason I am passionate about helping other young people move abroad is that I know how beneficial it is for me and how much I enjoy it. I want others to feel the same.

Also, I am helping people to make the journey easier, showing them specific steps they need to do and assisting them on their journey. With my help, young entrepreneurs can move abroad even within 3 months, thanks to the action plan we will create. And that motivates me so much, to see all the new lives we can begin.

I hope this article will let you understand how following your passion is important. And if you ever need help, reach out to relocate.with.eliska@gmail.com. I am excited to talk to you!

With love,
