Colorful Mindfulness for Restless Minds by Olga Bachila

In the times of turbulence and constant rapid change, it’s hard to think of a better life adviser than your own knowing. That’s probably why meditation as a tool of self-reconnection becomes so popular.

Have you managed to get in touch with your inner wisdom through meditation yet?

If the answer is “no” then you definitely should keep on reading this article!

The primary reason why many choose to meditate is for calming down at times wa-a-ay too loud minds.

But hey, how many of us modern women can actually meditate “properly” by sitting still and imagining that all the mass of disturbing thoughts just pass by as fluffy-bluffy clouds? How many of us can do so for 15 minutes in a row?

Probably not very many, ah?
And this is the reason why.

Despite the common opinion, meditation does not equal stillness (both in mind and body) and stillness does not mean meditation.

If you can’t sit still and think zero — it does not mean that there is something wrong with you or that meditation is incompatible with you.

What it ACTUALLY means is that you have a different type of central nerve system and, thus, need completely different approach to mental relaxation.

That approach can be art, or making art, or simply — artmeditation.

Did you know that your brain will receive the same if not more benefits from active painting than from traditional meditation practices?

More good news is that you don’t even need to know how to paint. And on top of that — not knowing how to paint is your advantage, as your meditative art should be purely abstract without boundaries of past experience or expectations.

What if I also tell you that your restlessness is your biggest asset on the way of achieving a calmer mind. Wanna check it out for yourself?

In a minute I’ll tell you how you can do, but first let me share 3 simple pieces of advice of how you can get started with your colorful mildfulness.

1. Be open

Try not to expect anything and do to put too high demands on yourself. Take this whole experience as a game! No rules, no wins, no losses – no stress about impressing anyone!

2. Make a wish

Artmeditation is such a thing, you know, that gives you clarity. If you ask a question just about anything that bothers you right before you start your practice, you’ll get a definite answer by the end of it. Magic at its best and I am not even kidding. Artmeditation stimulates your creative mind, thus your subconsciousness starts communicating with you out loud through your paintings. Just observe!

3. Be prepared to see the beauty in chaos and harmony in no control

Paints will elegantly guide you through the entire process. All your need to do is to trust and follow.
